You can see what a great time we were all having! :) An amazing, moving, beautiful and uplifting gig. Thanks to everyone (especially the Boss). ...

Gacy was an actual clown in the 70s IT wasn't released until 1986
The impact of 'Joker' probably hasn't helped the perception of clowns. I wonder if Joaquin Phoenix spoke with any professional clowns before making it.
Nephilim
George Carl was the best clown ever. He was just funny, born that way. Along with George Carl, I really appreciate gifted clown troupes such as the Rastellis. Russia has produced many of the greatest clowns. Balloon animals, the so-called requisite red nose, "BOZO" , that isn't what clowns are about, that's nothing. Clowning has very little to do with makeup. When I hear reference to clown makeup as some sort of "mask", I groan. Ringling had a "clone college" that helped to lower the art of clowning.
Me too! Innocent but so funny 😂
I miss the classic fun 1960s clowns.
*Clown Love* ✌🎉
they are nephilim reference
Why nephilim? Doesn't it mean giants?
Utterly fantastic video.
cheers - glad you like it!
Clowns are a gift from god allah
Kinda interesting, a lot of people hate clowns but I’ve always been more neutral. I’m not a fanatic by any means, but I’m not gonna freak out and have a panic attack if a clown comes over to me. They’re performers, actors, it’s best to see them that way, and no, most clowns aren’t John Wayne Gacy.
Deep Video. Taking my Children to a Circus in the 90s with the associated stigma & Protests about Animal use was a brave act. It wasn't until I went to visit Cirque du Soleil in years after that I really saw the almost highbrow Art of Circus & Clowning. I felt I was Transported into a childlike state, were I could safely explore my Humanity through the stories that the Clowns & Artists unfold before us.
Good stuff.
Post more carnival and circus videos please! And keep up the great content🤡
I will - I promise!
Remember that circus is performing artists, canival is CON artists. BIG difference.
Loved you r video ‘what happened to the clown”.
Saddest day is in 2017 when the last circus closed down
Ha! You must be referring to RBBB. Feld's daughter has recently made a bold attempt to bring the show back. What I have seen of RBBB 2023 is really pitiful, not "circus", not even close. In my youth, I saw RBBB in 1964 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. I loved the sideshow in the Garden's basement, the part I remember most. Decades later, I saw RBBB again at Madison Sq. Garden and in Boston. By then, the Felds had turned the show into something that resembled Las Vegas glitz with a few circus acts sprinkled in. It was more "spec" than art. I think the only "real" [one-ringer] circuses left in the world are in Europe and Russia. Cirque du Soleil is theatre featuring circus acts, in a class by itself.
Hello follow comment section of UA-cam. I was watching Steve O podcast and he was talking about his history of clowning. So I've started My journey down this rabbit hole. I hope y'all enjoy coming down this journey too!!!
You make valid points. I watched "I Clowns" recently. Hopefully clowning will re-emerge sometime soon, it is so integral to the circus. I wrote a few circus pieces recently, here's one: C-Fellini ua-cam.com/video/BBStPSXbRW4/v-deo.html. Thanks for your vid.
Visited the circus for the first time in 16 years and wow, so many differences! For me, I say bring in the clowns again!
Whatever happened to the auguste ? Clowns these days are neither auguste or whiteface, but a hybrid that combines the worst of both. They don`t bother with slop, ginger wigs, loud suits, slapstick and sometimes don`t even bother with red noses. I can understand up to a point, why travelling shows won`t do slop (because of limited drying facilities for costumes), but it didn`t bother the old school of clowns. They should remember though, that they are not in the circus for their own convenience, but for the audience who have paid good money to see them. The old British school of clowning with notables such as Coco and Charlie Carioli, have never been replaced by people of similar skillls and never will be, because hilarious clowning that made you want to empty you bladder on the spot, has gone for ever. Even clowns in fixed circuses with clowns who have worked there for years, are jaded and stale and have been for years. If modern clowns want to be admired by the old fogeys, they would do well to study the international greats such as Grock. Videos exist on UA-cam and I would recommend that modern clowns and the public, watch a master of the craft. He was about the only hybrid who ever had the skill to get laughs without being an auguste.
Thanks for your considered and thoughtful comments MrH. I believe we now all LIVE in the Circus... consequently we are haunted by the innocence and pure joy of those performers and their performances...but we have yet to acknowledge their wonderful gift to us.
Why did yall make this video feel so dark and intimidating
He didn't show any real clowning in the film, just scarey clowns. He featured only, I think, amerikan clowns. Amerikan clowning has typically been relegated to "space fillers, time killers" within a show's running order. They often are not funny. Clyde Beatty - Cole Bros. Circus featured the aforementioned time killer clowns for many years, mediocrity at its worst.
We're still here
JWG inspired Pennywise not the other way around.

My grandmother took me to Moscow circus visiting Sydney in the 80's, she bought me a private session ticket to see Oleg Popov and then i ended up working in a marionette workshop in the Rocks Sydney...reserching juggalos brought me here.. life is a circle - we are in or out of the ring as oftrn as the circus comes to town.
Popov was the real deal, not the typical b-day party clown that many are rightly scared of. Popov wrote such briliiant sketches that often involve juggling. HIs slackwire work was wonderful, it his his and his alone. I have worked in the business, I worked next to some greats and some not so greats. Amerikan circus' middle name nowadays is mediocrity.
I love the idea of the circus, and clowns. I would love to be a part of a circus one day, ignoring the judgement that others throw at me for wanting to be in one. I have always been interested in both since I was little, it probably started around the age of 6 or 7? I just love it.
Me tooo!!!
When your children look away from the action of the serkis, because they're scared of clouns, it's a good idea to kindly let them know that they're just people like you and I, but they're dressed in different clothing. They're not weird creatures made for the serkis. Pardon my spelling.
They can be both. Please don't get children comfortable with anyone wearing masks, excessive make up, or costumes. There's too much perversion in the world.

Clowing isn't dead. Just walk through your local shopping center. They don't wear makeup but they are all around us!
Literally Clown World! 🤡
You said it!😂
They wear a lot of make up, color their hair unnatural colors, drawings cover their bodies, and they deform their ears and noses with studs and rings. It is a clown show out there, Oh yeah, and their ripped up fashions.
Absolutely Brilliant.
I got recommended this by chance. Interesting.

"It started with a movie called IT" Joker: excuse me?
Oh there was scary clowns way before that
It's a statistical fact that more people are killed by vending machines than by clowns. Why don't they make movies about killer vending machines? 🤣🤣🤣😉

Idk why i was struck with a curiosity about the development of clowns, but here i am! This was really interesting!
As a retired 2nd generation circus clown this video really hits home! Thanks for talking about this subject! Sign me Omar Gosh the Clown!
you're very welcome Omar - I think it's still current too

Thanks Micheal. It was a labour of love to make.
@@michealridenoour5320 what is it like being in the circus industry
@@michealridenoour5320 Omar Gosh! What a great name! Love it! 🥰 I think people are losing their fear of clowns... the shock value is wearing off. I've been watching a guy named Puddles Pity Party, and people are just crazy about him. He's a sad pierrot style clown who mimes or uses a robotic voice to talk (while he acts out what is said) and he sings... and gives hugs. A lot of people are finding him comforting so who knows, maybe clowns will make a huge comeback! I, for one, would be thrilled to see that happen, because I've always loved clowns! 💖🤡
Clowns are fashion now
clowns did come back we just call them youtubers
and sometimes politicians
Clowns came from racism against black people I hope one day the truth comes out they would wear make up tattertd clothes and run around and get things thrown at them and they always had a sad face
that is simply not true Hot - every society since ancient days has had clowns - their function was to teach people about foolishness and trickery in life - not to instill racism, not in anyway - sorry to contradict you - but I have been a professional clown for over forty years and an anti racist activist for most of that time - I wouldn't have done that if clowning was racist, would I?
Uhhhh are you stupid
stupid ignorant
That's not true at all there's a reason there is only whiteface clowns ima report this kid
Ever since I was 6 or 5 years old I’ve had a huge addiction of clowns, the more clowns I’ve spotted in a movie, game, cartoon, the stronger the addiction gets, ever since the IT movie came out clowns were being misunderstood because of the movie, people thought of them as harmful and dangerous people but really they’re just humans trying to put people in a great mood, not saying that the movie ruined clowns, not at all,it’s just that it changed peoples perspectives on clowns,I don’t really want to become one myself because obviously I don’t have the funny in me but I’d at least like to dress up as them,or at least clowncore I believe
I've always loved clowns! I decorated my room in clowns and circus decor as a teen. I've never been scared of them, but then again, I don't watch horror movies. 😅 Check out Puddles Pity Party, he's a pierrot clown (the melancholy, sad kind) and he sings songs, drinks coffee and gives hugs! 🤣 Anyone can be a clown with an interesting outfit, face paint and some little entertaining tricks. Miming helps make things fun, too. 🤡💕👍🏻
They are demons
@@diamondcutt4342 No Their Aren’t
Wrong , clowns are other worldly inter dimensional entities.. with their own sinister and sometimes funny agendas
Omg same
Holy shit I want a clown at my funeral I never even considered that
Me too! I want my funeral to be a fun one. With music, cake, ice cream and pizza!
@@fynnthefox9078 Ah, you'll put the FUN in funeral! 😂
I was hired to do a funeral gig. Not as a clown really, but as a circus variety performer/ physical comedian. Usually I have to bid on gigs with other performers but no one wanted that gig haha. For the kids there, it was a difficult/confusing moment, and I was there to have them take a break of that confusing energy, and watch some idiot balance 12 boxes on his chin.
Depending on what state you in I'm currently available for bookings

Klowns will never go away. We see Clowns all over Hong Kong. Brings a tire to my eye cause they fighting for truth, rights and freedom. Thats what the new clown is all about now and back to be a sacred clown 💀🤡 which was always been that way anyways. Great video
This is really good, I hope we get to a modern version of clowning soon!
A woman always looks to marry the crazy rich clown.
donald johnson some of us just marry clowns 🤡
My wife said she did . I take it as a compliment @@clairej, but I am not sure if it was meant as one !
god i love clowns so much
How ya doin?
I love how poetic this is
To think a meme brought me here. It's really quite beautiful how a clown can convey human emotion without words. It's poetic, almost some what spiritual. They're as old as society itself.
Wow wtf
@@goatskin4487 clowns are master's at conveying acts or experiences and like rubber able to bounce back from any situation whether it be negative or positive atleast performance wise. That's what he is talking about.
Well said and thank you!
Thumbs up!!! Great video... 👍👍👍👍
